Green Deal ECO Start Well

Thursday, April 11th, 2013

Approved Domestic Energy Assessors and Green Deal Advisors, Green Deal ECO, based at Midlothian Innovation Centre near MidLothian Scotland have hit the ground running with the new Government Boiler Replacement Grant Scheme.

The company, who provide home owners, private tenants and landlords with Energy Performance Certificates in Scotland and across the UK, have seen a steady level of applications for new energy-saving gas condensing boilers.

The modern and ECO friendly combi boilers are being distributed for free through the Scottish and UK Governments’ Energy Company Obligation (ECO), Affordable Warmth energy saving initiative. The green-friendly grant program, backed by both Parliaments and all of the major utility companies in the UK, has been launched in parallel with the Green Deal home energy efficiency improvement loan scheme.

Both schemes are designed to address domestic energy wastage in millions of homes across the United Kingdom and will involve the installation of energy saving measures in homes such as replacement boilers, double glazed windows and doors, cavity wall and loft insulation, and draught proofing.

The Green Deal is funded by the utility companies and allows homeowners and private tenants / landlords to upgrade properties with a variety of energy efficiency products with no upfront cost. The “Green Deal loans” are re-payed through the savings made on domestic fuel bills, with no additional price hike for the property owner.

The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) runs alongside the Green Deal and is aimed at low income families, deprived areas and rural communities which have suffered long term fuel poverty. Qualification for ECO funding means there is no repayment on any home energy efficiency products.

Both Government schemes are also designed to address harmful carbon emissions and climate change in the UK.

Free Boiler Replacement Grants

Energy efficient boilers are one of the main ways to cut down energy usage in the home. Up to 80 of your gas bill is spent on powering your boiler. If your boiler is old there is a chance that you are wasting a huge chunk of your money.

The cost of heating your home, especially in cold winter months makes up about 60% of energy bills. the majority of this spent on your boiler and central heating.

You can keep down the cost of domestic fuel by installing energy efficient appliances in your home. An energy efficient boiler can save around a quarter of the money you spend on heating your home.

The new ECO boiler replacement scheme has been put in place to address energy wastage, which affects the environment, in turn causing unnecessarily high domestic energy bills.
